5 Startups Win Big at Innovacorp Sprint Competition

Early stage venture capital organization, Innovacorp, selected the final five winners for their Winter 2020 Sprint Competition. Electric Owl, Marecomms, Greenlight Analytical and two early stage startups were selected out of the 46 applicants. Each company will receive $25,000 as well as support from seasoned business professionals to achieve their next goal.

Startups Bloxo & Clean Catch Win at Apex

Two budding student-run startups, Bloxo and Clean Catch Baits secured the top spots at the Apex Business Plan competition last month.

Halifax sports matching startup, Bloxo won $5,000 in the undergraduate track and Clean Catch Baits, a sustainable fishing startup, took second place and third place in the elevator pitch competition.

Ross Arsenault Ashored large

Local Founder Wins GSEA Awards

Congratulations to Ross Arsenault, Co-Founder of Halifax Oceantech company, Ashored Innovations who came top at the Canadian finals of the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA). Arsenault will receive $10,000 and will move on to compete for the top prize of $25,000 at the global finals of GSEA in Capetown, South Africa in April.

SMU Ranks Third at International VC Competition

The team from Saint Mary’s University (SMU) placed third at the New England finals of Venture Capital Investment Competition (VCIC). Finishing just one point behind the second-place team from Cornell. VCIC is held every year for graduate and undergraduate students to contest for the position of best mock venture capital investment team.
